All through high school I wanted to be a dentist…. I know right… looking into peoples mouths, I thought, is how I wanted to contribute to society and help people.  I love striking up conversations so how could I possibly help someone without being able to talk to them! Then it hit me… I want to do Personal Training! Complete opposites from cavities to exercise. As I progressed through my career, my clients were always telling me they were sore or in pain, this led me to the next turn in my next career pathway.

Having always been fascinated by the human anatomy, from an early age I when other kids wanted to play with dolls or action figures, I wanted to study the muscles on a chart and wanted to understand how they worked. Being a qualified Personal Trainer taught me how to understand musculature, movement and exercise. But that wasn’t enough, I also wanted to understand these concepts related to muscular tension so I studied Certificate IV and achieved a Diploma to become a Qualified Remedial Massage Therapist with a better understanding of posture, postural chains and gait.

My next journey saw me working as a volunteer at aged care centres providing gentle massages to residents and also working for mobile massage companies. Wanting a more permanent job I began working for two separate clinics and loved the idea of providing luxury services in the comfort of people’s homes, so I to become my own boss whilst I gained experience in the massage clinics. Then I went to London to begin training at the prestigious Steiner Academy for Personal training and Massage. 

It was definitely a fantastic experience and got to meet many new people from all across the world and gained qualifications in Hot Stones Massage, Bamboo Massage and so much more! Coming back home to Australia I decided to open my new clinic ‘Kneading Knots Massage’ in 2020 and opening up my business clinic within the Kalamunda Wellness Centre.

Remedial Massage

What you will experience:

Remedial massage consists of a personalised treatment to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management from its root cause, not its symptoms. The qualified Remedial therapist will use a range of techniques from myofascial release, trigger point therapy to help with your concerns. Remedial is different from other massage treatments with an extensive knowledge of testings, active stretching, posture analysis and re-assessments to help with a range of issues from but not limited to:

• Sciatica
• Frozen shoulder
• Fibromyalgia
• Carpel tunnel
• Whip lash
• Headaches/migraines
• Tendinopathy
• Musculoskeletal disfunctions

• Correction of posture
• Design individual treatment plans
• Prescribe exercises and stretching programs
• Treat a range of concerns

What to expect:

Once you enter into the room, your therapist will go through a consultation form with you to go through history and make sure there are no contraindications that could impede your health and wellbeing. From there, the therapist will take you through relevant ROM testings, gait, posture analysis, orthopaedic testings to understand the roots of your symptoms of pain. WARNING: Therapists are not doctors therefore cannot diagnose. We can find positive or negative testings of possible issues and help relive pain and refer to practitioners that can make a final diagnosis. The therapist will take you through the treatment based on the testings to include trigger points, myofascial release, taping and other techniques. After the session, the therapist will repeat the testings to find if any improvements.

Pregnancy Massage

For new mums, experienced mums, tired mums, raging mums that need some time out for YOURSELF. Pregnancy places a lot of pressure on your neck, back, shoulders and abdominal muscles so this specialised treatment is designed to relive your aches and pains that are common during pregnancy including but not limited to:

• Headaches
• Leg cramps
• Lower back pain
• Tingling or numbness in hands

What makes pregnancy massage different? Well for starters it is only for the lucky women that are expecting a new baby! However, this treatment is gentle, reducing stress, reduce swelling to relieve muscles and joint pain whilst avoiding pressure points in lower truck, hands and ankles. Your qualified Pregnancy massage therapist will talk to you about your health and lifestyle before commencing your treatment. You will lie side laying supported by pillows for comfort and towels to protect your privacy and to keep you warm. You can have the choice of creams or oils throughout your massage and an added bonus these products will keep your skin smooth and soft.

Sports Massage

What you will experience:

Bit of a sports fanatic? This treatment is for you! Sports massage is a bit different from your normal deep tissue massage as it incorporates more isolated work on areas specific to your sport to help with injuries and prevent injuries from accruing. However, sports massage can be for anyone that does exercise from water aquatics to gentle walking.

Why do I need this massage? The sports therapist will help you condition your muscles before and even after a sporting event (includes after a training session in the gym or at home) to recover from the activity.
